Merit Arms LLC is now offering engraving services on BCGs, handgun slides, magazines, or whatever else you may want to add your personal touch to!



The $19.99 is a deposit that is subtracted from your total project amount. You will receive an email once order is placed to review everything.



Please note: We do not accept polymer lowers or 80% lowers or NFA items.



100% ( from the manufacturer) Lower Receivers can be mailed-in but MUST be shipped from a certified FFL holder. 



Standard AR Frames: See product photo for engraving locations.



Safety Engraving: Both sides of the receiver will be engraved if a safety option is selected. 



Magwell Art: We recommend deep magwell engraving on raw lowers and surface magwell engraving on lowers that are already coated or anodized. Please look at the reference above to see examples.



Make sure the receiver or frame is completely stripped.



(There will be an additional charge for any disassembly)



Turnaround time is typically 7-10 business days once received. We will email you further instructions once the order is placed.

Service Pricing



There is not a one size fits all price for engraving services. Prices depend on what you want and the object being engraved/marked. Deep engraving services on an AR-15 starts at $20. Depending on the shape and spacing between engravings as well as engraving type on your project may require additional setups. The pricing below is a sample of cost related to the AR platform but you may need to contact us for a quote on your individual project. If you supply your own artwork but it requires a lot of modifications there may be extra cost associated for graphic work. The figures below are reference to the abbreviations on the order form. These figures are just general placement/layouts of text and images, but you may design your own layout including the front of the magwell and trigger guard. Feel free to contact us for a more accurate quote.

Engraving on both sides of receiver in a layout that you customize. Package price reflects your custom graphic with Level 2 Setup fee included.

Includes the following:




  • Standard manufacturer marks (i.e., make, model, serial number, manuf name, location)

  • Package price reflects custom magwell graphic with Level 2 Setup fee included. May place same graphic on both sides of magwell or 1 custom graphic and 1 pre-optimized graphic.

  • Selector Safe/Fire marks or bullet pictogram marks on both sides





Setup fee




  • $20 for level 1 setup fee (no graphic artist needed, just conversion to usable file)

  • $30 for level 2 setup fee (Minor fixing to convert to B/W or create inverse of image)

  • $60 for level 3 setup fee (All of the above plus Cleaning the pixilation which is extremely important in producing a detailed engraving with clean sharp lines.)

  • Object that require special fixture will need to be quoted on an individual basis for setup.

FAQ

Q:  What type of file do you require for my on artwork?
A:  We can accommodate most graphic file formats but .ai and vector file formats achieve the best results when it comes to clean crisp engravings. ​The best images for engraving are solid black and white, with no grayscale. For raster files, resolution makes a big difference and should be a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch (dpi). However, raster files will be subject to a setup fee as listed on our price page. If you are computer savvy then our preferred file type is “.ai” (illustrator file) and second best would be a vector file. These 2 file types can help reduce or eliminate the setup fee that we charge.
Vector formats - AI, EPS, SVG, PDF*  (*PDF not written from a raster file)
Raster formats (> 300 dpi)- BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, ICO, EMF, WMF.

Q:  Why is there a setup fee and what does it cover?
A:  The setup fee is a one-time fee per custom logo, which covers the cost of our graphic designer converting your standard file into an illustrator file. Once the file is converted, much time is spent cleaning up the pixilation that is typically present in most pics. Cleaning the pixilation is extremely important in producing a detailed engraving with clean sharp lines.  If you choose a logo/pic from our engraving gallery, then you can avoid paying the setup fee since we already have a clean copy of that logo/pic in our system. You can also reduce or eliminate this fee by providing us with a clean “.ai” file (Illustrator file) or a clean vector file.

Q:  How deep is the laser engraving?
A:  BATFE only requires a depth of 0.003". Our large graphic deep engraving runs between 0.007" - 0.015" deep, depending on the subject matter. We are able to adjust the settings to increase or decrease the engraving depth.

Q:  What size text is required?
A:  BATFE requires text to be minimum 1/16" (0.0625"). See link below.

Q:  Can I have any kind of plastic part marked?
A:  No, Some plastics do not mark at all with a fiber laser, on the other hand some plastics like Magpul magazines can be marked very well. Unless you know the exact makeup of the plastic part, it will need to be tested in an inconspicuous area or a test piece submitted.

Q:  Can you engrave my receiver after surface treatment or does it have to be raw material?
A:  Deep engraving can be done while the material is in the raw or after finishing such as black anodize. 

Q:  Can you engrave after cerakote?
A:  Yes, but with Cerakote there runs a risk with light colors to have slight burnt halo around the engraving area from the heat. It is best to engrave before cerakote.

Q: Will the engraving disappear when I cerakote or anodize?
A:  No, the coating finish builds up the same on all levels so you should not see much difference in depth.

Q:  Can I send my completed AR-15?
A:  Absolutely, Please email us to work out all the details.
